Ofada Rice

Ofada Rice is a premium, locally grown Nigerian short-grain rice variety originating from Ogun State. Its grains are unpolished or partially milled, often retaining reddish-brown hues and tender bran layers. Known for its rich nutty flavor and earthy aroma—enhanced by traditional fermentation—it’s a celebrated staple in Yoruba cuisine. Unlike highly processed white rice, Ofada is naturally gluten-free, fiber-rich, and maintains more vitamins and minerals.

This rice is most famously paired with Ayamase (Ofada stew)—a vibrant green pepper sauce with assorted meats and local spices—but is also versatile for dishes like Jollof rice, rice-and-beans, salads, or traditional Yoruba meals wrapped in plantain or banana leaf.
