Precooked Fonio(also calledinstant fonio) is an ancient West African grain (Digitaria exilis) processed through steaming or parboiling to reduce cooking time—ready-to-heat in just 3–5 minutes. It offers a light, couscous-like texture and subtly nutty flavor, absorbing the taste of broths, seasonings, or sauces used during preparation.
Fonio is naturally gluten-free, low glycemic, and exceptionally nutrient-dense—especially rich in iron, zinc, vitamins B₁ (thiamine) and B₃ (niacin), amino acids, magnesium, and phosphorus. It’s also sustainably grown, matures quickly, and supports West African smallholder farmers.
